LINK and Marquette to Migrate Summit to Muse

Milwaukee, Wis., September 29, 1998

LINK Medical Computing, Inc. has entered an agreement with Marquette Medical Systems for LINK to provide data migration software and hemodynamic equipment interfaces for Marquette's MUSE CV Information System.

As a result of the agreement, the MUSE CV Information System will be able to accept data currently stored in Summit's DOS and Vista databases.  The DOS and Vista products will no longer be manufactured or supported after June 1999.

"Summit users can now breathe a sigh of relief, confident that years of cardiac cath and surgical data will not be lost if they purchase a MUSE CV Information System," says Todd Edwards, MUSE CV Information System product manager.  "Nor need they worry that their existing hemodynamic equipment will be incompatible with the MUSE CV Information System."

"LINK Medical has a long history of creating hemodynamic and hospital system interfaces for cardiology vendors, including Summit Medical," says Clifford Goldsmith, LINK Medical president.  "This experience together with our expertise in migrating data from numerous cardiology systems will ensure that LINKTools MUSE products will offer a high level of quality and functionality."

The MUSE CV Information System, Marquette's flagship information product, is the data and work flow hub for cardiology at over 1800 hospitals around the world.  It provides access to information from 16 different cardiovascular procedures including cardiac catheterization, surgery, stress tests, holter, ECG, and nuclear cardiology studies.

Summit users who choose the MUSE CV Information System will have access to more patient cardiovascular data than they ever had before.  They will also have a link to the ACC's National Cardiovascular Data Registry (ACC-NCDRTM) through the MUSE CV Information System's ACC software module.  This link permits electronic data harvest for hospital submittal to the ACC data registry.

Similar to the ACC module for the MUSE CV Information System, Marquette has developed a STS registry module.  Marquette is listed on the STS website as a participating vendor.

The MUSE CV Information System's open architecture approach also has led to information availability via the Web, Messaging packages, Hospital Information Systems, and a variety of hospital's networking infrastructures.  "The MUSE CV Information System is not a stand-alone information system, but an integral part of the decision-making process for physicians and nurses determining care. Information is at the finger tips of the clinician or administrator anywhere and any time they need it," Edwards says.

The MUSE CV Information System's use of industry standards has opened the door for LINK Medical to expand the scope and functionality of LINKTools® for Cardiac Cath.   "LINK's emphasis on off-the-shelf integration products ensures that our products are full-featured, dependable and arguably the most cost-effective in the industry," said Andreas Theodosiou, LINK Medical executive vice-president.
