6.0 HL7 Message Segment

A segment is a logical grouping of data fields, and as stated earlier, they may be required or optional. They may occur only once or may be allowed to repeat. Each segment is given a unique 3-character name or code. This code is known as the Segment ID.
Below is a list of defined segments that may be used in an ADT message.
Each ADT message can contain one or more of these segments.
