For Immediate Release:

LINK Medical Computing announces the release of LINKTools®
4.2 Interface Development Kit (IDK)

Needham, MA. December 29, 2000

LINK Medical Computing, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of its LINKTools® 4.2 Interface Development Kit or IDK, a dynamic, cost-effective integration tool that allows users to "interface enable" applications and systems with minimal to no programming. The LINKTools® IDK features:

  • A revolutionary Dynamic HL7 Mapper that allows users to point and click their way through the creation of an interface. It has an easy-to-use, yet powerful GUI for creating user configurable templates that define which desired data elements (including HL7 segments and fields) the user wishes to receive, process and/or export.

  • The IDK also includes the 4.2 versions of the LINKTools® TCP Receiver and Transmitter released earlier this year. In testing, the TCP Receiver was able to receive transmissions at a rate of up to 17,000 per hour while the TCP Transmitter was able to transmit up to 100,000 transmissions per day. The TCP Receiver can now be configured to receive data from up to five different locations.

  • Also included in the IDK are interface scheduling and maintenance routines for automating the various interface tasks and for ensuring the efficient operation of the interface.

"The release of the LINKTools® 4.2 IDK incorporates 10 years of practical integration experience and effort, and is the most important development in the evolution of the LINKTools® family of integration products to date." says William Nguyen, CEO of LINK Medical. "We are constantly improving the tool-kit and working with our Vendor-Partners to achieve, easier, yet more robust levels of integration." The product was previewed at the recent HIMSS 2000 show in Dallas and was extremely well received according to Vice President Andreas Theodosiou. "Based on feedback from our users and attendees at HIMSS, people are eager for a cost effective, flexible tool that they can implement with a minimum of training and programming. With this release of the IDK, we are bringing the user that much closer to this goal and are revolutionizing the way interfaces will be done". LINK Medical Computing, Inc. a privately held company headquartered in Needham, MA., develops and provides it's suite of LINKTools® products and services directly to, or on behalf of, instrument/system vendors such as Siemens, Agilent Technologies, Bard and Del Mar Medical Systems. More recently, LINK has also begun working directly with hospital IT departments. Additional information can be found at the company's website at www.linkmed.com.
